About Kerry Breen

Kerry has worked within the Disability Sector for nearly 30 years, with private not for profit providers and with the Department of Health and Human Services. Working as direct support worker in the home or out in the community, organising and running school holiday programs and camps, as a team leader in Supported Disability Accommodation homes (both long term accommodation and short-term children’s respite) and as a disability services case manager (General and justice experience.)

Prior to working in the disability sector Kerry worked as a nurse in the aged care sector.

She has attended university to study a Bachelor of Applied Science Nursing and then later studying at Swinburne her Certificate IV in Disability then progressing to study Bachelor of Applied Science – Disability at RMIT university.

Kerry grew up with an older brother with an intellectual disability who has complex medical care and support needs. This life experience brings a lot of knowledge not just from a service providers perspective but also from a service user perspective. It is this perspective that drives her to provide a very high-quality client focused service to ensure the best possible outcomes for her clients and their families.

It’s not all work for Kerry though, she enjoys her farm life, is very passionate about Rugby League and especially the Melbourne Strom Rugby League Club. Kerry also enjoys going for long walks with two of her best friends – Border Collies, Pip and Squeak.

About GSCS

Gippsland Support Coordination Services (GSCS) is a provider of support coordination to NDIS participants throughout the Gippsland region of Victoria.
GSCS has been established to provide support coordination to NDIS participants living in the following local government areas (LGA):
• Baw Baw
• Latrobe
• South Gippsland
• Bass coast.
• Wellington
• East Gippsland

Even though GSCS is a new business, the staff have many years of experience working within the sector, with a large group of networks and an extensive knowledge of services and supports to provide the best choice in service provision possible.
GSCS offers three levels of support coordination, offered by the NDIS

Levels of Support

Support Connection

Time limited assistance to strengthen participant’s ability to connect with formal, mainstream and funded supports, and to increase capacity to maintain support relationships, resolve service delivery issues and participate independently in NDIA processes.

Support Coordination

Assistance to strengthen participant’s abilities to connect to and coordinate inform, mainstream and funded supports in a complex service delivery environment. This includes resolving points of crisis, developing capacity and resilience in a participant’s network and coordinating supports from a range of sources.

Specialist Support Coordination

Time limited support coordination, within a specialist framework necessitated by high risks in a participant’s situation, to address barriers and reduce complexity in environment, assisting to connect with supports, build capacity and resilience.

About our Staff

GSCS support coordination staff are made up of experienced and knowledgeable staff with a range of tertiary qualifications in relevant disciplines as well as specific professional training to ensure their practice is contemporary and of high quality. They have the experience and knowledge to manage even the most complex cases and support needs.

Staff Safety Screening

All GSCS staff are required to have a police check prior to commencing employment. In addition, staff must have a current Working With Children /vulnerable person’s check in accordance with the NDIS business rules.
